HISTORY

Calgary Killarney Artistic Swim Club was established in 1982 as a non-profit organization based out of the City of Calgary’s Killarney Aquatic Center.

The club is administered by an elected parent executive team (Board of Directors) in conjunction with a Program Manager. With the help of club fundraising and a dedicated team of parent volunteers, we host annual swim meets and continue to achieve excellence in the sport of artistic swimming.

Our current membership ranges in age from 5-18 years. We have 40 coaches and experts in the field of strength conditioning, flexibility and sports psychology. We continue to support the community spirit or synchro with many coaches being former swimmers with the club, National Team members, National Team coaches and Olympic athletes. Our coaches are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). We are proud to have a talented and dedicated coaching staff. Our swim year runs from September to May/early June (depending on the age group/team).

With such a large membership the club now swims in all areas of the city: Killarney Aquatic Centre, Mount Royal University, Brookfield Seton and the University of Calgary pools.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Calgary Killarney is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected from within its members.  The Board of Directors dedicates their time through the year to the smooth operation of the Club as a whole.  This includes overseeing the coaching staff, the pool rentals and travel arrangements.

Of course, the Board of Directors would not be successful without the help and support of all the volunteers members within the club who dedicate their time as well to keep our club running; with the exception of the coaching staff, Calgary Killarney is run entirely by volunteers.

As a Board of Directors, we make our meeting minutes available to any member who requests access.
